Born on October 28, 1997 in Long Beach, California, a young boy destined to be a star was born. Growing up in New Orleans, Frank was surrounded by great music from the local jazz scene to listening to CDs on his mother's car stereo. His love of music form a young age caused him to do "numerous [things]." Including, "washing cars...mowing lawns, and walking dogs." Unfortunately, when Hurricane Katrina hit, his recording studio was ruined by flooding. In order to continue making music, he moved to LA planning on only staying there for a short time. But Frank made multiple connections in LA's music scene and decided to stay. Making a career out of ghostwriting for popular artists like Beyonce, he realized that although he enjoyed it, he wanted to start making his own music. In 2010, he joined the hip hop group known as Odd Future. There Frank was able to let himself be creative and he ended up releasing his mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra and first album, Channel Orange in 2012. A few years later he released the albums Endless and Blonde. Blonde received widespread love. It ranked number 1 in numerous countries, selling 232,000 copies in the first week. Time even thought it was the best album of the year in 2016. Frank Ocean also dabbles in photography. He went to the annual Met Gala assisting Vogue as a special photographer. Frank also made two covers and his very own visual essay for the fashion magazine i-D.
